JOB CLASSIFICATION: J1 Part Time 1st Shift - Saturday

PAY RATE: $16.84

BUILDING OR LOCATION:  McDowell High School

SHIFT-ASSIGNED TIME:  7:00am - 3:30pm

                                                           

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of three (3) years experience in janitorial or related fields with a
    demonstrated proficiency in cleaning methods.
2. High School Diploma or GED, required.
3. Knowledge of cleaning tools and materials.
4. Ability to direct the activities of janitors.
5. Demonstrates leadership qualities and customer service.
6. Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

REPORTS TO: Principal

 

JOB GOAL: Provide students/staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient
place in which to learn and work.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supervises and participates in the daily cleaning and maintenance of school building.
    a. Assumes responsibility for the general repair and cleaning services.
    b. Sweeps classrooms daily and dusts furniture.
    c. Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects bathroom floors daily. Cleans all sanitary fixtures and
        drinking fountains daily.
    d. Cleans corridors during the day when their condition requires it.
    e. Maintains cleanliness of the swimming pool, if the building they service has one.
    f. Shovels, plows, and/or sands walks, driveways, entrances, and steps as needed. Responsible for
       snow removal, including Monday mornings.
   g. Inspects playground and grounds, and removes litter/debris.
   h. Raises the United States flag at our before 8:00 a.m. on each day and lowers it at or after 3:30 p.m.
    i. Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate
       to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.

 

2. Supervises and participates in routine maintenance tasks and ongoing efforts to improve building
    and grounds.
    a. Conducts an on-going program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair including maintenance of
        cafeteria tables and custodial equipment.
    b. Reports major repairs needed promptly to the principal.
    c. Drains compressor at least once a week and records date this is done.
    d. Completes minor painting projects and ceiling tile replacement.
    e. Wash all windows on both the inside and the outside at least twice each year, and more
        frequently if necessary.
     f. Performs emergency repair or cleaning services as necessary.

 

3. Requisitions and receives supplies and equipment and maintains necessary inventories.
    a. Maintains an inventory of necessary supplies and equipment.
    b. Requisitions needed supply and equipment replacements from the Education Center far enough in
        advance so that they may be deliver in such times as will not hinder the staff in their duties.

 

4. Ensures the safety and security of the building.
    a. Assumes responsibility of the general fire safety of the building.
    b. Opens and closes building each school day and ensures that all doors and windows are secured,
        and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off before leaving.
    c. Runs the emergency plant one half hour each week. Checks emergency lighting, batteries, and oil,
        and records date each time this is checked.
    d. Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly
        during the hours of building occupancy.

 

5. Any other duties assigned by the Superintendent or their designee.

    necessary to promote student learning and/or safety.

4. Ability to push items of 50 lbs. such as pushing children in a wheelchair or moving/rearranging
    furniture.


SENSORY ABILITY
1. Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.
2. Auditory acuity to be able to use telephone.
3. Visual acuity to read correspondence and computer screen.
